Perhaps the best known hotel
in the area is the five star Dusit Thani which is often voted as
one of the top 10 hotels in the world. Also in the
immediate area are the Tawana Ramada, a pleasant 4 star
property as well as the Montien Hotel, literally a
stone's throw from Patpong. On Rama 4 Road is the Pan
Pacific Hotel which is very popular with visitors from
Japan,
Right in the heart of Patpong is the Strand Inn, on Patpong Soi 2, where rooms go for under 2,000
baht a night.
In addition to the many hotels
in the area there are a number of serviced apartments such as Centrepoint Sala Daeng and Sala Daeng Place.
prices are comparable to a 4 star hotel but you usually get a
lot more for your money in terms of in room amenities, but
perhaps without the full range of services that a top notch
hotel offers.
A bit over a mile from the
main Patpong area is the Chao Praya River, the lifeline that
runs through the city and home to some of the world's finest
hotels including The Oriental, The Peninsula and The
Shangri-La.
All are but a short taxi ride from Patpong.
A little closer on Silom Road
are the Sofitel Silom which has a great bar on the 37th
floor, and the Holiday Inn, just a little further down Silom
Road.
It should be noted that the
better hotels do not look kindly upon hotel guests brining
companions back to the rooms. Some hotels will
charge guests a supplementary charge for bringing someone back, whereas the five star hotels will simply refuse
entry to someone not registered at the hotel.
For shorter term liaisons, a
number of hotels in the area offer rooms by the hour. |
